Sitemap Validator
Paste your sitemap.xml to check the root element, namespace, loc URLs, lastmod dates, duplicates and the 50,000-entry limit.
Runs in your browser: input and output are never sent to the server, and the platform does not store your input.
Output
Fill in the fields on the left, then run.
How to use
- 1Open https://your-domain/sitemap.xml and copy the whole XML.
- 2Paste it above; add your site URL if you want the host checked too.
- 3Fix the errors (✗) first, then decide what to do about the warnings (!).
FAQ
Does this fetch my sitemap?
No. It only checks the text you paste. No URL is requested, and nothing verifies that those URLs exist or return 200.
Why is my lastmod reported as malformed?
Sitemaps only accept W3C dates such as 2026-08-29 or 2026-08-29T10:00:00+08:00. The usual mistake is “2026-08-29 10:00:00” — a space instead of a T, and no timezone.
What do I do past 50,000 URLs?
Split the file and link the parts from a sitemapindex. The per-file limit is 50,000 entries or 50 MB uncompressed, whichever comes first.
Do priority and changefreq matter?
Google has said it ignores both; other engines vary. The tool still checks their format, but filling them in will not change how Google indexes you.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The XML is parsed in your browser; no sign-in and no quota.
