GitHub Actions CI Generator

Pick Node.js, Python, Go or Rust and get a ready-to-use GitHub Actions CI workflow: lint, test, build, a version matrix, caching and least-privilege permissions.

Runs in your browser: input and output are never sent to the server, and the platform does not store your input.

Input

Not stored

Several versions run in parallel as a matrix.

Output

Fill in the fields on the left, then run.

How to use

  1. 1Pick the language and package manager, and list several versions if you want to test more than one.
  2. 2Tick the steps to run: lint, test, build.
  3. 3Save it as .github/workflows/ci.yml and push; it runs on every push and pull request.

FAQ

Why set permissions: contents: read?

The GITHUB_TOKEN may have write access by default. A CI job that only tests needs none, and keeping it read-only limits what a malicious dependency could do with it.

What does concurrency do?

When a new commit lands on the same branch or PR, it cancels the run still in progress, saving waiting time and Actions minutes.

Will the action versions go stale?

They are pinned to the current major version, which only changes on breaking releases. Add Dependabot's github-actions config so it opens update PRs for you.

Is my input uploaded?

No. The YAML is generated entirely in your browser; no sign-in and no quota.
